Privacy Policy for Once

This privacy policy applies specifically to the Once iOS application ("the App") developed and published by App Yours, Inc. For our general company privacy policy, see appyours.io/privacy.
1. Who We Are
App Yours, Inc. is a Delaware corporation. We develop and publish mobile applications. You can reach us at hello@appyours.io.
Once is a camera application for iOS that allows you to record video in 4K and export it in multiple formats. This policy describes how Once handles your data.
2. Permissions We Request
Once requests access to specific device features that are necessary for the app to function. Here is what we access and why:
Camera
Required to record video. Once cannot function without camera access. We do not stream, upload, or transmit your camera feed or recordings to any external server unless you explicitly initiate an export action to a cloud service.
Microphone
Required to capture audio in your video recordings. Microphone access is used solely for recording the audio track alongside your video. We do not process, analyze, or transmit microphone data independently.
Photo Library
Required to save completed recordings to your device's camera roll or Photos library, and optionally to access existing videos for editing or export. We do not scan, upload, or analyze the contents of your photo library beyond the specific file you are actively working with.
3. Data We Collect
3.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The primary data Once creates โ your video recordings โ is stored locally on your device only, in your Photos library or in the app's document container. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share or export it.
App settings and preferences are stored locally using standard iOS mechanisms (UserDefaults). This data does not leave your device.
3.2 Subscription and Purchase Data (via RevenueCat)
Once may offer in-app purchases or subscriptions processed through the Apple App Store. We use RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) to manage subscription state, entitlements, and purchase verification.
When you make a purchase, RevenueCat receives:
- A random, device-generated identifier (not your Apple ID or personal information)
- Your App Store purchase receipt for verification
- Subscription status and entitlement information
- General device information (device type, iOS version, app version) for support and debugging
RevenueCat does not receive your name, email address, payment card details, or Apple ID. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at revenuecat.com/privacy.
3.3 Analytics Data (via Mixpanel)
We use Mixpanel (mixpanel.com) to collect anonymized usage analytics. This helps us understand how the app is used so we can improve it.
Mixpanel may collect:
- App feature usage events (e.g., "recording started," "export completed")
- A pseudonymous, randomly generated user identifier (not linked to your identity)
- App version, iOS version, and device category (e.g., "iPhone")
- Session duration and frequency of use
- General geographic region (country-level, derived from IP address)
Mixpanel does not receive your name, email, Apple ID, camera roll contents, or video files. Events are structured to convey usage patterns without identifying you personally.
We configure Mixpanel with privacy-preserving settings. If you opt out of analytics (where this option is provided in the app's settings), no events will be sent to Mixpanel. Mixpanel's privacy policy is available at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
3.4 Crash and Error Reporting
The App may include crash reporting functionality to help us identify and fix bugs. Crash reports typically include the app version, iOS version, device model, and a stack trace of the code that caused the crash. They do not include your personal data or media files.
4. How We Use the Data
We use the data described above for the following purposes:
- To provide and improve the core functionality of the App
- To verify and manage subscription entitlements
- To understand how features are used in order to prioritize improvements
- To identify and fix crashes and bugs
- To comply with applicable laws and App Store guidelines
5. Data We Do Not Collect
To be explicit, Once does not:
- Upload, store, or transmit your video recordings to our servers
- Collect your name, email address, phone number, or Apple ID
- Access your contacts, location, or other device data not listed above
- Use your camera or microphone when the app is in the background
- Track you across other apps or websites for advertising purposes
- Sell your personal data to any third party
- Share your data with advertisers or data brokers
6. Third-Party Service Providers
We work with the following third-party services within the Once app. Each has its own privacy policy and data handling practices:
RevenueCat
Subscription management and purchase verification. Data processed: anonymous device ID, App Store receipt, subscription status.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes. Data shared with our service providers (RevenueCat, Mixpanel) is shared solely for the purpose of operating the App on your behalf, under contractual data processing agreements.
We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or valid legal process, or to protect the safety and security of users and our services.
8. Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
Once does not engage in cross-app or cross-website tracking for advertising purposes. We do not use Apple's Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or any equivalent identifier for advertising tracking. We use Mixpanel for internal product analytics only, using anonymous identifiers that are not used to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
9. Data Security
Your video data stays on your device and is subject to iOS's built-in security protections, including device encryption. Data transmitted to our third-party service providers (RevenueCat, Mixpanel) is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.
We take reasonable steps to protect the data we and our service providers hold, but no system is 100% secure. If you believe a security issue has occurred, please contact us at hello@appyours.io.
10. Data Retention
Local data (your recordings): Retained on your device until you delete it. We have no control over or access to your local data.
RevenueCat data: Subscription records are retained for the duration of your subscription and for a period thereafter as required for legal and tax compliance (typically 7 years).
Mixpanel analytics data: Events are retained for up to 36 months by default, after which they are deleted.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, or request data portability. Because Once stores very little identifiable data, most data requests can be handled by:
- Deleting the App and its local data from your device (removes all locally stored data)
- Contacting us at hello@appyours.io with a request to delete any associated analytics or subscription data

12. Children's Privacy
Once is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App is rated for users 4+ on the App Store due to no objectionable content, but our data collection practices described herein are the same for all users. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@appyours.io.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy when the App is updated or when our data practices change. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may provide notice within the App. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
